    PLAY / THING.

today i have the pleasure of sharing with you the song list of an fantastically talented artist who needs little introduction -- anna bond -- of rifle paper co.  known for her whimsical and nostalgic handpainted illustrations, anna channeled the same spirit with her music choices.  and, graciously,  she included her thoughts about what inspired each and every song on her list.  read.  and look.  and listen.  and be inspired.  thank you anna!

    PLAY:

Girl from the North Country - Johnny Cash w/ Bob Dylan

This song isn't exactly a love song but it's one of my all time favorites.  Nathan put it on a mix cd for me when we first stated dating and it always reminds me of us.

I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm - Ella Fitzgerald

Oh, I love me some Ella Fitzgerald and this song is such a fun, classic love song.  I feel like it's the song that plays while you remember all of your fondest memories.

A Kiss to Build a Dream On - Louis Armstrong

Louis Armstrong always seems to be playing at our house so it reminds me of those simple, quiet nights at home together.

     Don't Be Cruel - Elvis

I love this early Elvis classic.  It's simple, catchy and cheeky.

The Best is Yet to Come - Frank Sinatra

Its hard to pick my favorite Sinatra song but this one is up there.  The lyrics and the way he sings is so romantic.  It's so hopeful toward the future.

    PLAY / THING.

Hi. I'm Zach, Amy's husband and I'm guesting today for play/thing to share my love of Field Notes.

The guys who came up with Field Notes sold me when I read how they use them: "I'm not writing it down so I can remember it later, I'm writing it down so I can remember it now." With the click-and-disappear nature of our digital lives, I like to have a sharp #2 pencil and a few of these handy little notebooks by my side so I can leave myself some analog breadcrumbs to find may way out of the forest everyday. Right now I've got three in my bag:

    1. Brilliance [ideas as yet to be executed- genius t-shirts, award winning posters, mammoth business ideas]

    2. Travel [best place to get a hamburger in downtown Portland on the rare sunny day? easy: Violetta]

    3. To Do [always easy to notice that we're out of vacuum bags while vacuuming. Never remember to buy them when I'm at the hardware store.]

Pick up a few at monograham paper and don't let the ideas get away.

Here's my playlist about remembering and forgetting.

    PLAY:

The Suburbs (continued) - Arcade Fire

Vein Of Stars - The Flaming Lips

    Remind Me - Royksopp

What's Up Fatlip? (Breakbot Remix) - Fatlip

Time To Get Together (Extended Mix Alternate Take) - Marvin Gaye

    THING:

Field Notes 48-page memo books- available at monograham
